POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Transformative Healthcare (THC) Worcester Division Chief, and Life Flight (LF) Operations Manager, this role will provide comprehensive safe and effective medical transportation or care to patients transported by Life Flight (LF). This is a full time position. Will consider part time.

REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATION

  • Demonstrated evidence and proficiency in the required EMS skills.
  • Strong knowledge of company policy and procedure.
  • Current certified EMT in Massachusetts with a minimum of three years of EMT experience.
  • BLS certified. Current CPR card.
  • Valid and current driver’s license
  • Must provide a current copy of RMV driving record for administrative review prior to being hired and, if hired, annually upon annual review.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write and comprehend the English language without restriction.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with fellow employees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle conflict situations with good judgment, professionalism, and courtesy.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to receive and provide constructive feedback.
  • Massachusetts CORI background check will be performed prior to employment. CORI check will be repeated annually

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess and maintain physical condition which allows running, climbing and carrying of medical equipment and lifting of patients
  • Able to stand erect from a squatting position while lifting 200 pounds with 2 people
  • Able to work in adverse or extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to pass initial physical exam, drug screening as required, as well as annual physical examinations.
  • Free of physical ailment which may impair consciousness or cognitive ability.
  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, which may include day, night, holidays and weekends. 6am-6pm, 6pm-6am

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides comprehensive, effective, and safe quality care to any patient transported by Life Flight
  • Responsible for safely driving all Life Flight Ground Critical Care Transport vehicles and meeting vehicle and on the road protocols.
  • Must attend required staff and educational meetings within scope of position.
  • Maintain certifications as mandated by the Mass Department of Public Health, Transformative Healthcare and Life flight.
  • Complete required documentation (written and electronic) per Transformative Healthcare and Life Flight policy
  • Uphold and adhere to Transformative Healthcare and Life Flight safety standards, policies and procedures.
  • Complete daily vehicle operation inspection and report discrepancies to Worcester Division Chief.
  • Maintain a clinical skill proficiency and knowledge base within scope of position
  • Maintain a clean operational environment including but not limited to retrieving, stocking, cleaning and returning medical equipment.
  • Maintains positive communication (written and spoken), effectively while interfacing with fellow employees, consortium hospitals and the community at large.
  • Data entry, clerical assistance, dispatcher
  • Acts as a dispatcher upon request receiving phone calls from hospital nursing floors, outpatient satellites, and private residences with a request for transportation. Dispatchers will assign calls to ambulance units based on level of care efficiently and accurately.
  • Assist with data entry and some clerical assistant as assigned.
